Thomas Muller not for sale - Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted Thomas Muller is not for sale.

Manchester United had been linked with a move for the World Cup winner and reports in Bild claimed that the Premier League giants had tabled an offer of £70.5m bid for player.

Louis van Gaal, who coached Muller during his time in charge of Bayern Munich, has already signed Bastian Schweinsteiger from the Bavarian giants and has previously hinted at signing a striker - although he has subsequently changed his mind - but whatever his intentions it appears a move for Muller will prove fruitless.

"There are some players who just don't have any price tag," said Rumenigge.

"We would be out of our minds to sell Muller."

Bayern are poised to wrap up the signing of midfielder Arturo Vidal from Juventus as Pep Guardiola shapes his squad for next season but Rummenigge also said that Bayern are yet to discuss the future of the manager whose contract is up for renewal next summer.

"I can't currently think of any reason why Pep would leave us," he said. "Maybe we'll just meet for an espresso and clear everything.

"But if Pep doesn't want to stay, our world would not fall apart."
