Did Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal bite and punch Atletico Madrid's Mario Mandzukic?

Suspicious: Did Dani Carvajal bite Mario Mandzukic?
Atletico Madrid and local rivals Real played out an entertaining 0-0 draw on Tuesday night, but Dani Carvajal caught the eye for all the wrong reasons.

The Champions League quarter-final first leg was a physical encounter, and many fans on the internet were suggesting that Carvajal was guilty of some particularly underhand tactics.

The Spanish full-back was tussling with Atletico forward Mario Mandzukic when he appeared to swing a punch at his opponent.

In some footage, it even looked as though Carvajal had attempted to bite the Croat too.

Mandzukic collapsed on the floor after it happened, but referee Milorad Mazic was unconcerned by their antics.

When quizzed about the event after the game, Carvajal said: “I want to make it clear that I have not bitten anyone.”

Regardless of that incident, Mandzukic was certainly on the end of some rough treatment from the European Champions.

Earlier in the evening, a clash with Sergio Ramos left him with blood streaming from a cut above his eye, which needed tending to on more than one occasion.

The two sides will now head to the Bernabeu for the second leg on Wednesday night, let's hope the players can keep their hands to themselves when they do.

Do you think Carvajal bit Mandzukic?
