Road Accident - 15 NYSC Members Escape Death in A/Ibom

No fewer than 15 National Youth Corps members yesterday escaped death in a multiple road accident involving a Nigerian Christian Corpers' Fellowship bus they were travelling in, three tricycles and a Kia Rio Saloon car at a village near Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The accident, according to eyewitnesses, occurred at the ever busy Abak-Ekom-Iman highway few kilometres from Uyo.

Our correspondent who visited the scene of the crash gathered that though no life was lost, five persons, including some of the corps members sustained various degrees of injuries and were later admitted at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

It was further gathered that the corps members were travelling to Ikot' Abasi for a retreat before the accident happened.

An eyewitness told LEADERSHIP Weekend that the accident was caused by the bus driver who over sped and did not notice that there were bumps on a portion of the road before ramming into the vehicles.
