Eyewitness said apart from those who died in the accident, several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The eyewitness explained that the commercial bus had attempted to overtake a Sports Utility Vehicle along the bad portion of the narrow road but failed to accomplish the task before being faced with an oncoming truck.

The resident, who identified himself as Tayo, said, “The bus was coming from Lagos, heading towards Ilorin. The driver made an attempt to overtake the SUV but it seemed the SUV driver increased his speed, putting the bus driver and passengers in the danger of colliding with the truck.

“The bus driver could not avoid the head-on collision, which resulted in the death of six passengers immediately. Another one died during the rescue mission by some people. It was a gory scene.”
