APC has failed from foundation – PDP

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ondo State, on Tuesday, said the desperation with which the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state was calling on the electorate to vote out the incumbent government in the distant of the 2016 governorship poll was predicated on the residual effects of bad governance, which the APC offered at the national level.

The PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Banjo Okunomo, told journalists, in Akure, that it was clear from what had been witnessed in the last three months of APC-controlled federal government that the party had failed from foundation.

Okunmo said the foundation of governance currently being laid by the APC at the centre, where all sensitive political offices were given to northern political elements, to the detriment of the southern politicians, was faulty.

He chastised the APC, in the state, noting that the party at the federal level knew full well that it had lost the popularity of the people, which heraldeded it into power in May 29, 2015.

Okunmo added that the opposition party, in the state, was now jittery and desperately going back to the old strategy of false propaganda to cover up their inadequacies.

“This definitely would not work, again, as many voters are wiser to understand that the whole noise of “APC. Change.” is about Buhari and his northern folks, whereas the southern Nigeria has been technically dislodged from relevance in the scheme of affairs in this country.

“The Ondo APC is already aware that their party has lost bearing and become unpopular before the Ondo State electorates,” he said.

The image-maker also said that the question that voters were asking the APC was “Where is the stake of the Yoruba people in the government of Buhari? Where is the stake of the Igbo people and other ethnic nationalities of the South-South of the country Nigeria?”

“No respect for federal character; nepotism and character assassination in the guise of anti-corruption fight are the order of the day in the Buhari administration.

“The Ondo State Chapter of the APC is also not unaware of the fact that it would share in the boomerang effect of the nepotic administration of the APC central government, which is characterised by unfulfilled electoral promises.

“It would amount to an exercise in futility if the Ondo State Chapter of the APC fails to disembark from unfounded allegations of bad governance, which it serially raise against the government of Governor Olusegun Mimiko out of desperation to take over power, because the people of the state are glued with its impressive performance in the areas of health, education, urban renewal, agriculture, to mention just a few”, Okunmo said.
