Arsene Wenger criticises Arsenal; hints at transfer plans

Arsene Wenger has admitted to the club’s official website that they need to toughen up and become more ruthless for next season.
This campaign will finish as a trophy-less one for the Gunners after they have failed in the league and the cup competitions.
The Premier League in particular has been a disappointment, as they have failed to properly challenge both Tottenham Hotspur and eventual champions Leicester City.
Arsenal are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window, with an overhaul of the squad rumoured to be on the cards.
And Wenger may have hinted at his plans by admitting his side must add to the back-line.
“We have to add something defensively as a team to be more ruthless,” he told arsenal.com. “I don't think we are soft but yes, we need to toughen up. In some games we were caught, but a lot of the teams have the same problem.”
If Wenger believes that his side need to add something defensively next season, then signing a top class centre half would be a wise move.
While many believe it is a striker they are lacking, there are plenty who believe that a quality centre-back is also sorely missing from the side.
This season in particular has seen the likes of Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker both struggle, and perhaps adding a central defender should be top priority for the Frenchman.
Do Arsenal need to add a central defender this summer?
