Fan gets police escort over Vardy error

A Leicester fan who went to the club's stadium in the hope of celebrating the team's Premier League success found himself in a pickle in a case of mistaken identity.

Ian Haughey, who lives in Derby, was walking around the grounds outside King Power stadium when people began taking pictures of him as celebrations got under way.

Mr Haughey realised that fellow supporters believed they were looking at star player Jamie Vardy.
At work, his colleagues had often joked that he resembled the 29-year-old striker who has scored 22 goals in 36 appearances.

Mr Haughey began to feel nervous about the rising level of interest and decided it was time to leave.
And that was when the supporters really got going, crowding around his car, taking pictures and increasingly moving into his space.

In the end, a police van was brought in to escort him away from the ground.
