SGF criticises Kachikwu over fuel crisis

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, on Wednesday took a swipe at the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, over the current fuel crisis in the country.

Lawal slammed the minister at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly before the commencement of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The SGF had been struggling unsuccessfully to make ministers who were busy exchanging pleasantries settle down ahead of Buhari’s arrival.

Not even his announcement that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was already seated was enough to make the ministers settle down.

Disturbed that the venue was still in a rowdy situation, Lawal looked round and saw Kachikwu shaking hands and discussing with a colleague.

The helpless SGF then said loudly but jokingly, “Kachikwu, there is no fuel and you are there shaking hands!”

While the venue erupted in laughter, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola also replied Lawal, saying, “There is fuel. It is N107.”

The meeting which Lawal said would be very short is currently ongoing with Buhari presiding.

The SGF announced to the ministers to keep their contributions during the meeting short, saying jokingly, “all those grammar should be avoided.”

He also said the only item that would be accommodated under AOB would be a presentation by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.
