Steven Gerrard and wife Alex are homesick and set to quit the US, sources claim.
The ex- Liverpool captain is said to have been offered a coaching role back at Anfield.
England legend Gerrard , 35, has tried to settle into life in Los Angeles – but insiders now claim the couple are “desperate” to return home “within months”.
The news follows revelations he is building a mansion in an exclusive area of Merseyside.
A source said: “He’s been offered a job and could be back as soon as August or September. Stevie’s plan was always to come back and get into management.
“He and Alex took some of their close friends to LA with them but they’re finding it tough.”
Gerrard signed an 18-month deal with LA Galaxy in January 2015 said to be worth £4million a year. The club is said to have put the couple and their three daughters up in a £16.8m home.
But within months of arriving in the US, Gerrard told how he missed being in the UK and the Premier League.
Last September he said: “I miss everything about it. When I switch on the TV and see the stadiums, the intensity, the tension. I am jealous. I miss the build-up, competing with better players.”
Alex, 33, told how she was struggling to persuade daughter Lilly-Ella, now 12, to share her enthusiasm over the move. “She’s, like ‘oh no, I don’t want to go, I don’t want to leave my friends,” says Alex who has two other girls, Lexie, 10, and Lourdes, four.
Gerrard is reportedly spending £100,000 on an adventure play area for his children at the family’s new multi-million pound Merseyside mansion.
Plans include a £10,000 Wendy house for his three daughters which will have its own private lawn, plus a £2,000 tree house with a lounge and wifi.
