ISIS: Horrifying photos show man and woman being stoned to death 'for pre-marital sex'

Sickening images have emerged of a man and woman appearing to be stoned to death by Islamic State militants for 'having sex before marriage'.

The images show a large crowd gathered around the pair in ISIS-controlled city Mosul, in northern Iraq, as the bound and blindfolded couple are murdered in the street.

A charge sheet is said to have been read to the crowd accusing the man and woman - both believed to be in their 20s - of 'fornication' and announcing their barbaric punishment.

A large pile of stones and rocks were then hurled by around 12 jihadis, leaving the road in the public square covered in blood.

The killing was the latest in a series of public executions in the city of people accused of social and religious crimes.

Mosul shop owner Abu Mohammad al-Lahibi told the New York Times: "Twelve ISIS militants were standing there who had bags with them filled with stones, and they began throwing the stones at them, and after the third stone the woman was killed.

"The man died a short while later."

The pictures show a militant a yellow scarf covering his face reading out the charges using a microphone.

Stones ceremonially laid on the ground in front of the couple are then hurled by around a dozen men.

A crowd of a few hundred can be seen circling the horrific scene as the blindfolded and bound couple fall to the floor with blood pouring from their injuries.

Last month, a 'homosexual' man was blindfolded and thrown from a building by ISIS militants in Syria before a baying crowd stoned his corpse.

It is believed the man was sentenced to death by a sharia court.

The group has subjected scores of people to brutal punishments caused widespread terror after taking large parts of Iraq and Syria last year.
