He left One Direction only last month but it seems Zayn Malik
is already planning a career as a movie star. The talented 22-year-old
has been in talks with Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha to
plan his next move.
Film bigwig Gurinder, 55, who is working on
Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical, tells 3am discussions with Zayn have
already begun.
She says: “We’ve met and spoken. He trained as an actor first then became part of the band.
“So I think what he’ll be doing is staying true to his heart – and that’s all you can ever do.”
Speaking
at the Asian Awards on Friday – that were also attended by Zayn, his
sexy new shaved head and BFF Naughty Boy – Gurinder adds: “I don’t have a
part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future.”
Their discussions came just months after Zayn’s singer friend Ed Sheeran, 24, agreed to feature in a Bollywood film.
And the ginger pop star may become the inspiration for a new wave of
young Romeos, after Zayn recently admitted he learnt a lot about wooing
women from watching the movies as a kid. Bless.
Meanwhile, 1D
film director Morgan Spurlock, 44, reckons Harry Styles, 21, will be the
next member to leave the band. The US film-maker, who spent months
trailing after the lads for the This Is Us documentary, says: “I think
they’ll stay together for a little bit longer and at some point Harry
will probably leave.
“He’ll probably be next and then Niall and Louis and, er, I think those guys are going to become like the new Bell Biv DeVoe.”
Fun fact: Bell Biv DeVoe were the US trio who split from New Edition in the early 90s.
Morgan
insists Zayn was the most talented in 1D, adding: “He’s an incredible
singer. All of them are talented but to make the decision to go off on
your own and chase a solo career in the midst of being as famous, as
successful as you are... you can’t fault someone for that.”
