N255m Bullet Proof Cars: Stella Must Be Probed, Group Tells EFCC

A group under the auspices of  Voice of Arewa Youth yesterday warned that the promise made by President Muhammadu Buhari to rid this country of corruption will be a mirage if past acts of corruption are allowed to go unchecked.
Against this background, the group has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to revisit the scandalous N255 million bullet proof automobiles acquired by the former Minister of Aviation and now a Senator, Stella Oduah.

According to a statement signed by its Secretary, Mr. Jethro Annum and made available to THISDAY in Abuja, it urged the two anti-graft agencies to investigate particularly persons alleged to have corruptly enriched themselves and are occupying elective positions.
The statement read: “Any attempt to allow these elements go unpunished will rubbish the much talked about anti corruption stand of the president. Charity they say begins at home; therefore, the anti-corruption agencies must beam their search lights on such persons.
“At a time when the nation is going through economic recession, there cannot be a better time to recover all stolen monies to invest in critical sectors of the economy,” it added.

The group said  it would stage a protest in Abuja in the coming days in order to ensure that the probe is carried out to serve as deterrent to others who might be tempted to engage in corrupt practices.
Recall that the House of Representatives Committee had indicted the former minister of wrong doing on the matter but the appropriate agencies to prosecute offenders did not show commitment on the issue.
