Yohan Cabaye joins Crystal Palace from Paris Saint-Germain

Crystal Palace have announced the signing of midfielder Yohan Cabaye on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The deal has been described by Palace as club record fee which is believed to be £10m, rising to £13m with add-ons.

France international Cabaye's move reunites him with manager Alan Pardew, who he played under previously at Newcastle.

The former Lille player arrives from Paris Saint-Germain after just 18 months at the Parc des Princes, where he failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

Although the 29-year-old made 33 appearances last season, he was not always in the first XI and he began just two of the five Champions League games he played.

Cabaye passed a medical on Thursday and returns to English football after spending two and a half years at St James’ Park between 2011 and 2014.

He said: "I'm happy to be here. I've been waiting for the decision, had the medical and now I can't wait to focus on my new team, a new season and my new life.

"I wanted to come and play for Palace because there are some really strong players here. They finished very well last season and I think they can compete to get into the top eight.

"I also know the gaffer and have worked with him before and I'm confident with him. I want to do my best for him because he’s made a big effort to get me to come here, as well as the Chairman, so I have to say a big thank you to both of them."
