Osun judge: APC, PDP disagree over husband-snatching saga

A fresh twist has crept into the husband-snatching saga involving a judge in the Osun State judiciary, Justice Olamide Oloyede, and a housewife, Mrs. Emily Richard-Obire who claimed that the judge was having an affair with her husband.

Explaining that her 23-year-old marriage was under threat, the mother of four accused the judge of having an affair with her husband since 2011, adding that one of her children is suffering from autism and Down’s syndrome.

The two leading political parties in Osun State, the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress, have disagreed over the husband-snatching allegation with each party accusing the other of insincerity and mischief.

Osun State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, accused the APC of orchestrating “a campaign of calumny against the Justice Oloyede because of her stance against the non-payment of workers’ salaries in the state.”

A statement by the chairman said on Tuesday that, “The public lynching of Justice Oloyede will not stand. The state government should not shift attention from the subject matter which is the suffering the masses are subjected to over the non-payment of salaries.

“The public could see beyond the plot to smear the judge’s name and ruin her reputation and campaign against social injustice. The Osun PDP sees all this as mischievous and grave insincerity against the people of Osun.”

But the APC, through its state Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, on Tuesday, dissociated itself from the travails of the judge, saying that it was not “responsible for urging the woman to petition against Mrs. Oloyede.”

In a statement signed by Oyatomi, the APC said, “What has the APC got to do with a judge who was accused of snatching somebody else’s husband? If the judge is accused of husband-snatching, how is that the business of the APC?

“The APC will only be concerned with the professional conduct of the judge if it impinges on her responsibilities as a state functionary. In this case of alleged adulterous affair with somebody else’s husband, the APC has no knowledge of it whatsoever.

“The PDP is now concerned about the issue simply because the blowback of the other woman’s petition against Mrs. Oloyede places the PDP as a group of irresponsible, immoral and indecent people who condone vices.”
