James Faleke, the running mate to the late governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, has condemned the manhandling of his supporters at the Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
Falake, who said the hoodlums brandished posters of Governor Yahaya Bello, asked the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, to deploy more policemen in the tribunal to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Faleke, who is praying the tribunal to declare him as the duly elected governor of the state , said no amount of intimidation would stop him from claiming his mandate.
He said, “Some thugs came in their numbers to the court brandishing posters of Yahaya Bello. They beat up some of our supporters and wounded some in the process. I am surprised that the hoodlums came all the way from Kogi State to Abuja to unleash violence on innocent citizens. It’s rather unfortunate. The thugs would have caused more havoc had a reinforcement of the police not arrived to handle the situation.”
