Nigeria move-up one spot in latest FIFA ranking

Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved one step up in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday by the world football body, but still occupy eleventh position in Africa.

The Super Eagles moved three places in the February ranking to 63rd, and has made another slight improvement to 62nd position, despite crashing out of the CHAN tournament at the group stage of the competition held between 16 January and 7 February in Rwanda.

Cape Verde are now the number one African team surprisingly in 31st position ahead of Cote d’Ivoire (36th), Algeria (37th), Ghana (41st) and Tunisia (47th),  Senegal (48th) occupy sixth position, Nigeria’s opponent in the AFCON qualifier in March, Egypt, moved two places up to (53rd) position, and seventh in Africa. While the likes of Congo DR (58th), Congo Brazzaville (59th) and Cameroon (61st) completes countries in the top ten ranking in Africa.

In the world ranking, Belgium maintained the top position, Argentina in second position, Spain, Germany, Chile and Brazil occupy third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively. While Portugal, Colombia, England and Austria are the other team in top ten world ranking.
