Police Say Kano Electoral Commissioner ‘Not Burnt To Death’

Kano state Police Command has refuted a publication by the Leadership Newspaper that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kano and his family were burnt death.

 ddressing a news conference on Saturday, the Police spokesman in Kano, Magaji Majia, said the Leadership over the weekend published a story titled “HOW KANO INEC REC, WIFE, 2 DAUGHTERS WERE BURNT TO DEATH”.

Mr Majia explained that Late Mikhail and his family were not burnt to death, but died from the hot and black smoke they inhaled from the fire. He stressed that the Leadership correspondent who published the story was not at the press conference conducted after the incident.

The Police spokesman also added that detailed report of the incident will be made available after comprehensive report by the Police and State Fire Service.
