A white student who blamed black people for her university's poor WiFi connection has been suspended.
The unnamed female student wrote that “n*****s” were at fault on a whiteboard list that was captured on Snapchat before going viral.
The
shocking statement was the top of the list, which also included
'ratchets' - a slang term for a woman who wrongly thinks every man wants
her - incompetent professors, an overpopulated campus and parking.
The incident happened at the University of South Carolina, the New York Daily News reports.
“Racist
and uncivil rhetoric have no place at the University of South
Carolina,” the school’s president Harris Pastides said in a statement
Friday.
“The unfortunate and disappointing act of a
student in a study room has challenged the Carolina community to reflect
on our values and tell the world what we believe.”
The student in the photo, who is not being named by the university,
also faces USC code of conduct investigations. It’s unclear if she will
be expelled, the NYDN says.
This is the third such racially charged incident to occur on an American college campus in the past week.
Three
Bucknell University students in Pennsylvania were booted for making
racist comments during a March 20 campus radio broadcast.
And a student at Duke University in North Carolina admitted to placing a noose on a tree.
The student is no longer on campus, although disciplinary actions are pending and criminal charges are under consideration.
