APC aspirant vows to cleanse Kogi of PDP misrule

A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Yahaya Bello has promised to effect positive change that will cleanse Kogi State of the 12 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) misrule.

Bello, who addressed journalists in Lokoja, promised to revive the economy of the state if elected as the next governor of the state, pointing out that Kogi state had been devastated and that the hope of the people had equally been shattered.

The aspirant regretted that all infrastructure PDP inherited since 2003 were left to decay, while only few they claimed to had put in place were of sub-standard.

He lamented that despite abundant natural resources, the state had continued to depend solely on the monthly allocation from the federation account, promising to raise IGR of the state from the present N450 million to a reasonable level.

Bello, a renowned transporter also decried the present pathetic condition of public schools in the state and promised to improve on the infrastructure and provide free education as well as free meals for the pupils and students, in addition to prompt payment of teachers’ salaries.

While commending the founding fathers of the state and all the past governments for their contributions to the growth of the state, Bello appealed to the electorate to try the young and dynamic persons like him.

According to him “other areas that will attract my attention are health, youth and women empowerment and agriculture”.

He promised to maintain the position of the state as he number one producer of cassava and rice, adding that the agricultural sector will be revamped to create employment for the youth in the state.
