Porn is flashed up on LED screen for 10 minutes |
In the background, motorists can be heard beeping their horns in response to the film, while others on foot had taken out their mobile phones to record.
A nearby resident who had heard about the incident after it had been posted about on Chinese social network WeChat admitted he immediately rushed to the scene.
He said: "There were some elderly people and some under-aged children who saw it. The screen was facing a huge hospital and several patients in the building saw it too."
After ten minutes, citizens eventually decided to phone police, and the screen was soon switched off.
A staff member at the hospital told Sohu News: "The screen has been there for two to three years but I have no idea who owns it."
Two days later, police located the company responsible for the screen.
Allegedly, a male employee had decided to entertain himself with the adult video while he was at work, but had accidentally projected it onto the screen after not understanding how to work the controls.
The man has been detained by authorities according to the Shanghaiist.
