Robbers Snatch Workers Salary In Warri

Dare-Devil gunmen within the week snatched the sum of N2.5m cash meant for workers salary from a business man, Mr. Godfrey Pondi shortly after withdrawing the money from Zenith Bank along the ever busy Ogunu road, Warri, Delta State.

Daily Independent learnt that the robbers who came in their own car double crossed the victim, took the N2.5m cash just withdrawn and his expensive wrist-watch, ring, two GSM phones and an Ipad before locking up his car and taking the car keys along with them.

The ugly incident was said to have occurred around 11:am on Wednesday. The victim who later reported the matter to the “A” Division Police has since towed his vehicle home.

Similarly, a 3-man armed robbery gang escaped arrest within the week when a police patrol team which suspected their movement trailed and blocked at Ajamimogha Road in Warri.

The robbers, sensing danger immediately alighted from their wine coloured Volkswagen car and spread the cash along the road while running for their dear lives.

The action of the public rushing after the free cash prevented police from firing any shot thus making the robbers go scot-free with bags of cash they must have stolen from some innocent persons earlier.

The police later towed the robber’s vehicle to their station.

Robbers have been known to attack customers who patronise the bank to make huge withdrawal in recent times.

The development is making some to suspect that some of the bank workers may be working in collaboration with the robbers.

But security sources said some of these thieves disguised as customers in clean suits and tie inside the banks only to spy on others and note their withdrawal before putting calls across to their colleagues outside the bank.

Armed men have in recent times invaded Warri in broad daylight and executed their acts in a commando-like style that have overwhelm the security agents.
