“Once you are an NYSC member, you are a corps member for life. You are a bonifide member of the NYSC alumni. Anywhere you are, you represent the good qualities of the NYSC.”
He further charged them not to allow the lessons of the scheme, including that of unity, love and justice to be taken away from them, explaining that the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme would become more relevant after their service year.
The Coordinator revealed that apart from security reasons, the ceremony has continued to witness low-keyed celebration to enable corps members get to their respective destinations early and safely in view of the long distances some of them cover were meant to cover.
One of the beneficiaries of the award, Etienying Akpanusong said she received the award with a mixed feeling, saying it would serve as a motivator to taking greater responsibilities in the nearest future.
