The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has stated that only the names
of suitable qualified candidates with JAMB results and appropriate names
of accredited courses issued to the students and offered by them should
be sent to it for mobilization.
It also added that results released and acknowledged by the senate of
the institutions as well as soft and hard copies of the names of
students are other considerations.
This came on the heels of the corps observation that names of roadside
mechanicsand other illegal candidates were sent to its headquarters for
mobilisation, thereby creating series of problems.
This was announced by the director-general of theNYSC, Brig Gen Johnson
Olawumi, during the 2015 and 6th combined policy meeting on admissions
to degree, Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) National Diploma and
National Innovation Diploma- awarding institutions.
The DG who was represented by an NYSC official, Mr Fasanu Isaac, said,
“the emphasis of NYSC is to mobilise qualified graduates who have run a
full term programme as part-time programmes are not accepted. They must
not be sent for mobilisation. Students that have different courses
offered with those on their statements of results will be demobilised”
he warned.
