The Police on Thursday arraigned a businessman, Tajudeen Olaniyi, charged with stealing the sum N1.2million from his customer.
The accused i is facing a charge of stealing before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that, the accused, resides at No. 42, Buhari St., Mushin, a suburb of Lagos.
Imhonwa told the court that, Olaniyi had on Jan. 22 undertaken to help with the sale of a vehicle belonging to one Mr Basit Ogundeji.
According to the prosecutor, the accused allegedly obtained all the relevant documents of ownership of the vehicle from Ogundeji with the pretext that he would sell it.
“Investigation reveals that the accused had since sold the said vehicle and obtained a total sum of N1.2million as proceeds from its sale which he absconded with,” Imhonwa said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the count.
Magistrate. Bola Osunsanmi admitted the accused to a bail of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case to Sept. 14 for mention.
