One Direction give show-stopping performance after 'split' news

One Direction put on a show-stopping performance in Chicago last night, as it was revealed they will 'disband' in 2016.

The band didn't let the shock news and fans' devastated reactions stop another incredible show, and Twitter users were quick to spread the love.

The Drag Me Down band, made up of Niall, Louis, Harry and Liam, held a secret meeting in London last weekend and decided NOT to tour their fifth album,

A source told The Sun newspaper: "They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision."

And while none of the singers have commented yet, Liam thanked fans in Chicago following the show, writing on Twitter: "Chicago that was amazing thank you so much loads of fun."

Meanwhile Niall quickly recovered after accidentally leaving the air-con on - leaving him with a dry throat ahead of the show.

He had previously told his fans: "God damn AC! Left it on when I was sleeping .... Singer problems."

Meanwhile Louis had other things on his mind as he wrote this morning: "Fear the walking dead is intriguing !!!"

Teenagers were inconsolable after the news broke of the band's 'split' and many took to Twitter to let the world know exactly how they were feeling after yet another bombshell.

One Direction's last live concert will reportedly be on October 31 at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

A source added to The Sun that the hiatus is 100 per cent "not a split" and they will get back together in the future to release further material.

Their new record is likely to be released around Christmas time and the boys dropped the video for the single Drag Me Down this month.
