The Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ishola Balogun-Fulani, has said the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was not responsible for the delay in constituting the state government’s executive council.
Since the inauguration of the governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on May 29, there has been pressure on the governor to announce the appointment of commissioners, special advisers and other aides.
But following the delay in constituting the state executive council, accusing fingers had been pointed at Saraki whose leadership of the Senate had continued to be enmeshed in controversy.
Balogun-Fulani , during a media briefing in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday, also said the Senate President was not interfering in the affairs of the state government.
According to him, Ahmed had been consulting to ensure that only competent and efficient people were appointed into his cabinet.
He also noted that the delay in the appointment of commissioners and other aides was not peculiar to Kwara State.
The APC boss also said the running of the state was solely the responsibility of Ahmed, adding that the party was delighted that Ahmed had been performing his duties to the satisfaction of the residents of the state.
He stated that the Kwara State chapter of the APC had passed a vote of confidence on Ahmed for excellent performance.
Balogun-Fulani said, “We want to say unequivocally that Saraki had never interfered in the running of the state. Whenever he comes home, he only attends to party matters and this is done openly at the ‘Charity House,’ where most party members are present.
“We are happy and proud to note that Ahmed has been running the state excellently well. This is the reason why we passed a vote of confidence in him. So, we urge the good people of Kwara State to ignore those who are peddling the unfounded rumour and continue to support Ahmed’s administration.”
