Court remands factory worker for raping daughter

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, has remanded a 34-year-old bakery worker, Mohammed Ahmed, in prison for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter.

The accused person, who was arrested by the officials of the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, was arraigned before the court by the prosecutor, Mr. Duro Adekunle, on Friday.

Ahmed was charged with two counts of unlawful intercourse and assault of his daughter.

However, when the charge sheet was read in court, the plea of the accused person was not taken.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Habibat Bashiru, ordered the accused person to be remanded at Ilesa Prison and she adjourned the case to October 30, 2015 when the formal bail application of the accused would be filed at the High court.

Ahmed confessed to have raped his daughter six times only when he was paraded by the NSCDC officials on September 2.

He said he did not know what came over him, saying he neither smoked not drank alcohol.
The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit  of the NSCDC, Mr. Wale Folarin, during the parade, said the command was alerted of the man’s act by one of his neighbours.

He said the neighbour told the officials that he used to hear the cry of the daughter almost every night and this prompted him to asked the girl, who confided in him, the disgraceful act of his father.
