Family distraught over teen's 'Wicked' murder

The family of a teenager who was chased by up to 15 people through a London estate and then stabbed to death have condemned the "wicked attack".

Neighbours in Hoxton's St John's Estate heard screams as Marcel Addai was attacked at around 11pm on Friday night.

Paramedics arrived at the scene, but the 17-year-old was pronounced dead soon afterwards.

Marcel's family said in a statement they are "totally devastated" by his death.

"We cannot comprehend how anyone could carry out such a wicked attack," they said.

"We want those people who know something about this attack to come forward and provide information to the police.

"These people must come forward to prevent another family going through the pain we are all now suffering."

A 40-year-old woman, who did not want to be named, said she saw the teenager being chased through the estate as she watched from the window of her flat.

She said: "There was a big chase. They ran through the estate, some on bikes, some on foot. By the end of it when he died there were about 15 people around him.

"I just heard the screams, the cries - a primal scream of death."

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and say no arrests have been made.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: "My officers have been at the scene since the attack took place and have come across a community left shocked by what has taken place.

"Whilst we have had a good initial response I believe there are still a number of people who were at the scene who have not come forward, people who hold significant information.

"I want to stress that any information provided will be dealt with sensitively and in the strictest confidence."

Marcel was the second youngster to be stabbed to death in London in two days.

On Thursday night, 17-year-old Shaquan Mario Fearon died from a stab wound to his leg after a fight at a block of flats in Brockley, southeast London.
