Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists there is no pressure on Anthony Martial to maintain his blistering start in the Premier League.
The most expensive teenager in football history - signed for an initial £36m from Monaco - has notched three goals in his first three United matches and appears to have adjusted immediately despite not speaking English.
But after Martial's double helped beat Southampton 3-2 on Super Sunday, Van Gaal insisted he does not expect consistency yet from such a young player.
"When you are 19 years old, you cannot expect consistency. Emotionally they shall have a lot of dips, so that I expect also from him, but that is not a big problem for me.
"I'm very happy that his talent is at a high level, and he adapts to the system of how we want to play. That is also important. Not every player can adapt in that system but he shows he wants to and can do that.
"He scores goals. That is the most important thing, that as a striker he scores goals. He can improve I think but he has a high level of talent. He shows it.
"He is always an attacking point for a lot of players, and that I like in him. He is always running in behind and that I like in him too. He keeps the ball. He is very important for us now, already.
"He has the talent to do it but the Premier League is a lot of rhythm and a lot of physical influence of the defenders, but he is also a strong guy. We can expect more consistency than I had expected, but you never know, we are only three games in."
