Brendan Rodgers says he is not worried about his future as Liverpool manager but admits he is under pressure to deliver results.
After kicking off the season with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Stoke and Bournemouth respectively, Liverpool have now gone four Premier League games without a win, leaving them 13th in table.
The Reds needed a penalty shootout to beat League Two Carlisle in the Capital One Cup in midweek, placing further scrutiny on Rodgers' position.
"I'm never complacent enough to think [my position won't be under threat]," Rodgers told reporters ahead of the visit of Aston Villa this weekend.
"At a club of this stature, you always need to be at your best. It doesn't frighten me.
"I expect to be a manager for the next 20 years. That might not all be here."
"I'm a much better manager [than the one that arrived here three years ago] but I know I need to get results.
"The pressure is huge but I embrace that challenge. I respect that we need to get results. The message [to the fans] is to stay with the team. It only takes one win and we're back around top four.
"It is all about confidence. Once we get goals and a sequence of wins we will get that confidence.
"We have created that expectancy. How do I block it out? I focus very much on the team. I don't worry about myself."
Jurgen Klopp's shadow appears to loom large over Rodgers after reports the German would be prepared to cut short his sabbatical for the right Premier League job.
Liverpool have not made contact with the former Borussia Dortmund manager but Rodgers accepts speculation about his own position is part and parcel of the game.
"In terms of names linked, when manager of club this size there is always going to be speculation, especially when you're not winning."
