Sick rapist who attacked victim in her own home using Google Translate is jailed

A rapist who took a woman captive in her own home and repeatedly sexually assaulted her has been jailed.

Roman Torac, 36, attacked his 29-year-old victim on April 5 after her boyfriend had left to go to work.

She was raped six times, sexually assaulted, beaten and psychologically tortured by Torac, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Torac then fled from Manchester to London and turned himself in at Belgravia police station.

There, he told an officer: "I have big problem", and then typed out some words in his native Slovakian.

Running his writing through Google Translate, the officers realised he had written: "This morning I raped a girl".

Torac pleaded guilty to six charges of rape, two sex assaults, false imprisonment and threats to kill, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The victim has described herself as feeling ‘destroyed and humiliated’ by her terrifying ordeal.

She managed to escape the room after she was first attacked by Torac, who had threatened to kill her if she didn’t submit. He then dragged her back by her hair.

She was raped again and then tied up and gagged. At one stage Torac held a carving knife to her and told her: “You’re already dead.”

When he dressed her in her own clothes, she thought her ordeal was over.

Torac then used a knife to slit her clothing open, and attacked her yet again.

Torac, of Claremont Road, Moss Side, even told her it was her fault and that he would get her pregnant.

He fled after choking her until she passed out.

She came to and had to crawl downstairs to seek help.

Defending Torac, who has a previous conviction for fraud in his native Slovakia, Michael Goldwater said the attack was not premeditated, saying he had ‘lost control of himself’ after an ‘immense amount of drink’.

Arguing successfully that Torac shouldn’t be jailed for life, he said: “This series of offences are about as frightening an example of rape as one could expect to find. But when you take into account this man handed himself in to police and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, I can’t see what higher expression of remorse could be offered.”

Judge Robert Brown jailed Torac for eight years, with an extended licence period of eight years for the public protection.
