Five persons were killed on Friday when some gunmen attacked Zawang village in Jos South Jocal Government Area of Plateau State.
Among those killed was one of the alleged attackers.
Sources said that the incident happened at about 1pm on Friday.
The incident occurred one day after four youths were ambushed and killed at about 10am around Chevelnyap in Rim, Riyom Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Emmanuel Abuh, confirmed the killings.
“One of the suspected gunmen who killed four people in a recent attack in a community in Plateau State was killed by the police,” he said.
Abuh said the police killed the suspected attacker while attempting to escape after killing the four persons.
He said, “The incident occurred at about 1pm on Friday. Four persons were killed. A woman was injured and she has been taken to a hospital for medical attention.
“Security operatives, in prompt response, went to the scene and exchanged gunfire with the suspects. One of them was killed.
“Others are on the run, but we are trailing them. We shall arrest them.”
