Lille of France shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama, has broken his silence following the melee that ensued in the Super Eagles camp Tuesday night in Belgium.
Enyeama and Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, had an altercation which has now culminated in the 33-year-old being stripped of the national team captain’s arm band after he had been ordered out of the Hotel Verviers camp site of the national team.
Fresh from burying his late mother over the weekend in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Enyeama through his Instagram page said he would accept all insults thrown at him despite his years of sacrifice for the country but will not take any abuse targeted at his late mother.
“After 13 years of national service, having this smiles on my face and this passion in my heart. Through the billows, the waves of the ocean, the tears of defeat, the sound of rejoicing from victory chants. Now the thought of being stripped naked and security agents throwing me out breaks me completely. I will take anything but not insult to my dead mother,” Enyeama wrote on his Instagram page.
After 101 appearances, the highest for any Nigerian player ever, it is yet to be seen if Enyeama will be able to add more caps to his name in the days ahead.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation has for the third time changed the match venue for the game between Nigeria and Cameroun.
The Super Eagles will now battle the Indomitable Lions at the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels on Sunday.
Denderleeuw had initially been scheduled for the game against the Indomitable Lions before the NFF announced Dendermonde as the new ground until a new confirmation was received from the Belgian FA regarding the change early hours on Wednesday.
