Eamonn Holmes given 'sex ban' to help him recover from double hip op

This Morning favourite Eamonn Holmes has been banned from having “hanky panky” after his double hip op.

The breakfast anchor, who will have his op next month, says it was wife Ruth Langsford, both 55, who wore his hips out in the first place - by having too much sex.

Speaking at the National TV Awards, he said: “I’m facing a two week double hip operation, she wore them out, she’s got to help wear them in.”

Ruth added: “The doctor says no hanky panky and no strong exercise.”

It’s in stark contrast to last year’s awards when Eamonn joked about his active sex life with wife Ruth.

At the time, he said: “I love Ruth deeply but also I fancy her.

“How could I resist? No wonder I look tired all the time - that woman has me run ragged. I go to work for a break.”

The showbiz couple, who wed in 2010 after 13 years together, have co-hosted This Morning every Friday since 2006 and are famed for their rows live on air.

But Eamonn is now preparing for his double hip operation next month and will have 10 weeks off the box. He also presents Sky Sunrise every day. During his time off rising star Sarah-Jane Mee will present the show.

And he admits he is looking forward to having the operation as it will stop the pain.

He said: “I just want to get it done now because I’m in a lot of pain. I can’t stand for long periods of time. It’s not great.”
