A terrified woman was sent a box with a severed pig's head, dead rats and a threat to cut off her head - because she liked a Facebook page.
The appalling package turned up on the doorstep of her home in Calderbank, Scotland.
Initial disgust at the contents of the delivery quickly turned to fear when the woman read the hand-written note threatening her decapitation, reports the Daily Record .
The message warned the woman over her social media opposition to a proposed housing development.
It stated: “This is a warning. Next time it’ll be your head in the f****** box.
“Stay off Facebook and tell your big pal to get the page deleted.
“These houses/development will be getting built!”
The woman was left “worried sick” by the message.
A Facebook page called Stop the Europark Development, opposing the proposals to build 3000 homes, has been launched and got more than 1300 likes.
The recipient of the package – who has asked to remain anonymous – said: “I was really taken aback when I opened the box and saw what was inside.
"It was absolutely disgusting.
“Then when I read the note I was even more upset and alarmed.
“All I’ve ever done is like a Facebook page. But I’m hardly alone in that.
“I’ve never attended any meetings opposing the development and I’ve never participated in any events, so for my property to be targeted in such a way is extremely unsettling.
“It’s even worse when you consider the lengths someone has gone to put all this together.
“How easy is it to get your hands on a pig’s head? I wouldn’t imagine you could pop into the butcher’s and pick one up.
"And where would you get dead rats?
“I’ve been worried sick since this all started.”
