Little Ruby died at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital last Wednesday at just under two weeks old, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Her uncle, Jack, was carrying an iPod Touch holding photos of her in his back pocket when he collapsed in the Westhaven Crescent area of Aughton, near Ormskirk, the following day.
It was only on Friday Ruby’s family realised the iPod was missing and began a desperate search for it.
Ruby’s aunt, Amelia Burgess, 15, has now launched an online bid to find the iPod, which has been shared thousands of times on Facebook.
She said: “It would mean everything if we could get it back.
“It’s more important because it’s got all our photos of her on her last day.
“We’ve been looking everywhere and have put posters in shops to try and find it.”
Family Appeal: A friend of the family put this Facebook post up appealing for help in finding the lost iPod |
The iPod, which is white on the front and pink at the back, was in Jack’s pocket at the time he had a panic attack last Thursday.
He had been taking it home to charge for Sarah.
Jack was taken by ambulance to Southport Hospital but both the ambulance service and hospital say they do not have it.
“We think it might have fallen out when he collapsed,” said Amelia.
“It was only later on the next day we realised he didn’t have it. We’ve searched high and low for it.”
Ruby died following complications during pregnancy and after birth.
Amelia said: “She fought for nearly two weeks but in the end she just couldn’t handle it anymore.”
