Glo Welcomes Lagos Batch A CMs To Camp With Basketmouth And Wande Coal On Stage

Batch ‘A’ members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Lagos were on Friday, May 8, treated to an evening of fun and entertainment by national telecoms operator, Globacom. The party which marked the beginning of the 2015 Batch ‘A’ service year was attended by a large number of the corps members at the Orientation Camp located at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

The visibly excited corps members were seen arriving at the venue of the party, clad in their white sportswear clinching to
cameras and taking photographs with Glo ambassadors. The party which began at 7 p.m. lasted till about 10pm, shortly before the light out. Music oozed from the line array speakers as the corps members filed into the venue, some of them in pairs.

In a welcome address by the company’s representative, Kunle Akanmu, Globacom Business Director, said that Globacom was delighted to be part of the corps members’ orientation camp activities and that the party was aimed at celebrating the beginning of their service year which it believed, would be successful and rewarding.

“As the 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ service year begins, we urge you to be good ambassadors of your various institutions and brace yourselves up for the challenges ahead. At Globacom, we believe that the youth are the future leaders of this great nation, and we are optimistic that, with the training you have received in your schools, you will make the nation proud in your various places of primary assignment,” Akanmu said.

Glo Ambassador and Nigeria’s biggest comedy export, Basketmouth anchored the event, unleashing rib-cracking jokes in his usual characteristic manner, and had the guests roaring with laughter. Hip hop super star, Wande Coal was also on ground to thrill the guests. He expectedly put up an exhilarating performance to make the evening a memorable one.

Corps members competed for prizes in a dancing contest. The dancers took the center stage as they tried to outclass one another. The energy and dexterity with which they danced spurred the audience to clap and cheer. Jesse Akinwande from University of Lagos, won the first prize, a Samsung Ace 4 handset plus 2,000 Glo airtime Chioma Charles was runner up, while Chibueze Udechukwu was second runner-up.

Beffi Taekor a corp member at the event thanked Globacom for the party. “It was really thoughtful of Globacom to have such an event at the Orientation Camp. It created an opportunity for bonding of corps members, especially at the beginning of camp activities,” she enthused.
