Covenant University, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, on Wednesday,
disclosed that an innovative product developed from a series of research
clusters at the university, an interactive kiosk, will soon be deployed
to three airports in the country.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor
Charles Ayo, the three international airports where the self-service
kiosks would be deployed to for hotel needs, telecommunication, tourism
and transportation of airport users are; Murtala Mohammed International
Airport (MMIA), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja; and Port
Harcourt International Airport.
Speaking at a world press conference to announce activities for the 10th convocation
ceremony of the university, the VC said that the institution would
continue to strive hard to focus attention in assisting industry in
improving products and services.
He said; “The interactive kiosk offers self-service in the area of
hotel accommodation, transportation, telecommunication and tourism.
Thus, no visitor would be stranded for want of information and
communication upon arrival in the country,” he added.
Recounting his experience in the United States of America (USA)
recently, Prof Ayo said the interactive kiosk that was similar to an
inconclusive Doctoral thesis he supervised had to be reworked since his
encounter outside the country.
He listed other research outcomes by the university to include;
integrated dual-powered mobility engine tagged CU-IDEA, mini smart solar
electricity generator, telemedicine and e-health project
On the convocation event, he disclosed that at the undergraduate
level, a total of 1,315 would receive degree certificates and 135 in the
postgraduate level for the 2014/2015 session.
