An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court,
Ibadan, on Tuesday sentenced one Akeem Adeyemi, 31, to five months in
prison for stealing inside a mosque during prayers to end the day’s
Ramadan fast.
Adeyemi, whose address is unknown, had
on Monday pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of felony and stealing
inside a place of worship.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.F. Richards,
sentenced the convict to two months for committing felony and another
three months for stealing.
Richards said that the two sentences
were to run concurrently, starting from the day the convict was first
arraigned before the court.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Oluseye
Oyebanji, had told the court that Adeyemi, on June 26, stole N7, 000
from one Mr Jubril Awalu.
Oyebanji said that Adeyemi entered the

the money from Awalu’s pocket.
He said that the offences were
contrary to Sections 390 (9) and 415 of the Criminal Code, Caps 38. Vol
