Disaster was on Friday averted in Osun State when a tanker with petrol lost control and rammed into five vehicles.
The tanker with registration number AGL-804-XK was entering Osogbo, Osun State capital when it brake failed at Ogo-Oluwa area. Our correspondent gathered that two of the affected vehicles were commercial buses while the remaining were private ones.
Though, no life was lost to the incident, an eye witness account told our reporter that no fewer than six persons were injured.
The tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol dented a Toyota Camry Saloon car and four others. The injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospitals by men and officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
The driver of the tanker initially took to his heels after the accident occurred, but he was later arrested by the police. The Osun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Mohammed, confirmed the accident but said one person was injured.
He warmed motorists against putting faulty vehicles on the roads saying that such would henceforth be impounded by his officials.
