He was fined two weeks' wages and banned for two matches by UEFA for a a similar incident involving Celtic fans.

The two-time African Player of the Year, 34, plays for Malaysian second division side Sabah Rhinos, reports the Daily Record.

He said: “I plan to become a businessman when I retire and I’m thinking of going into politics.

“I want to make changes in African sport, so I don’t see why I shouldn’t become sports minister.”

While at Bolton, Diouf spat at an 11-year-old Middlesbrough fan before spitting in the face of Portsmouth player Arjan de Zeeuw in the same season.
