The Oyo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ibadan on Wednesday, admitted additional documents as exhibits in a petition filed by Sen. Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party.
Ladoja is challenging the declaration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of All Progressives Congress as the winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state.
The petitioner also joined APC, Dr Rufus Akeju, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, and the commission itself as co-respondents.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the tribunal headed by Justice Mohammed Mayaki admitted no fewer than 27 documents at the resumed hearing.
The exhibits, which were tendered by the petitioner’s lead counsel, Mr Richard Ogunwole (SAN), contained the reports of elections conducted in Itesiwaju, Orire, Ogbomoso North and Ogbomoso South Local Government Areas.
However, Messrs Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), counsel for Ajimobi and APC respectively, said they would reserve their objections to the exhibits tendered till the stage of filing their final written addresses.
NAN recalls that the tribunal at Tuesday’s hearing admitted no fewer than 62 documents tendered by Ogunwole as exhibits.
