Police find £25m of drugs stashed in freezer

Police have discovered a £25m drug stash in a flat freezer in what they described as a "massive" haul.

Specialist organised crime officers found 150kg of white power - thought to be mephedrone and amphetamine - in the south Liverpool flat after tailing a car from a tyre-fitting centre where drugs had been found.

Police uncovered 24,000 ecstasy tablets and 4kg of cocaine, some of which had been hidden in a tyre, during a routine patrol there.

Detective Superintendent Jason Hudson, who heads the organised crime unit, said: "This is a massive seizure of what is estimated to be more than 160kg kilos of what we believe are Class A and B drugs - we think we could be looking at drugs with a total street value of £25m.

"This clearly represents a massive seizure of dangerous drugs that would undoubtedly have been supplied to communities across the North West and beyond and I am delighted that we have been able to recover them and take them out of the hands of criminals."

Five men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs.
