Paris attacker's mobile message: 'We Are Off'

One of the terrorists who stormed the Bataclan theatre sent a mobile phone message saying "We are off, we are starting" moments before Friday's attacks in Paris.

Investigators discovered the phone in a bin outside the concert hall, where 89 people died when gunmen opened fire inside the venue.

Paris prosecutor Francois Molin said authorities are working to identify the recipient of the message.

"I can confirm that a portable phone was found in a bin outside the Bataclan concert hall," he said.

"An SMS text message was sent at 21.42 (9.42pm) by a member of the commandos saying: 'We are off, we are starting'."

Details about the recovered phone were among several revelations about Friday's attacks released by Mr Molin during a news conference in Paris.

He said the attackers rented three vehicles in Belgium and drove them to Paris "in convoy", arriving just 10 minutes apart.

Mr Molin said assault rifles, gun cartridges and a knife were among the objects found inside the abandoned cars.

He described the terrorists as being in possession of a "total war arsenal".

"The quantity and the nature of the weapons used by the terrorists shows that they were prepared to go to the end," he said.

"You can say that very extensive logistics was introduced by those commandos."

Friday's attacks are believed to have been carried out by three teams who targeted six locations in the French capital.

Salah Abdeslam, a second unidentified person and the alleged mastermind of the strikes, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, are still being hunted by police five days after the attacks, which killed 129 people and wounded hundreds of others.

A fourth cell, which was believed to be planning new attacks, was broken up on Wednesday when police raided an apartment in the Saint Denis neighbourhood, according to prosecutors.
